Why we learn math?

What is a reason to learn math? One of the answers may be handling functions to understand the concept.

When you are pushed by someone from back and turn back to see a person behind you, you would think that the one could push you. Let's thinking about the result of pushed from back and the reason.

When the question is y = 2x + 1, the result; y = 5, x is 2.
5=2x+1
5-1=2x+1-1
4=2x
x=2

If there were two persons when you are pushed and look back, who pushed you?
Both of them?

If y = 9, x = 3, -3.
Of course the person who pushed you could move around to hide from your sight according to your turning back.
In this case, x=-i, i. Imaginary number. Or No answer. 
There could be a possibility that the pushing would be just your imagination...

There are a number of solutions for a question.
A question and its solution, therebetween the function exists.
The real world and its map, therebetween the function exists.
A word and its target, therebetween the meaning or function exists.

The world is changing time by time.
According the changing, Function can be adapted to.
Further function defining function would be dramatically powerful.

When you face with the world, functions which represents its reason and the result would be helpful for you.
This can be the reason why we learn Math. 
It's you that get the result.

To solve the question about linear or quadratic function would give us pleasure when we get it, because we achieve the goal of question.
